Abstract

Latar belakang: Orang atau sumber daya manusia sebagai inti organisasi berperan penting dalam pencapaian keberlanjutan daya saing organisasi, untuk itu perlu adanya perubahan paradigma dalam pengelolaan sumber daya manusia dari bersifat rutinitas dan administratif menjadi pengelolaan sumber daya manusia stratejik yang berorientasi jangka panjang. Pengelolaan sumber daya manusia dapat dilakukan dengan cara memberikan motivasi kerja dan dorongan komitmen organisasi.  Disisi lain, pertimbangan mengenai karakteristik individu dan disiplin kerja juga penting untuk diperhatikan.

Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik individu, disiplin kerja, motivasi, dan komitmen organisasi terhadap kinerja karyawan.

Metode: Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini berupa data kuantitatif menggunakan pendekatan desain penelitian asosiatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah karyawan swasta  di Kota Pematang Siantar dengan sampel sebanyak 150 karyawan yang ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji instrumen, uji normalitas, uji regresi, uji hipotesis dan uji korelasi serta koefisien determinasi.

Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik individu, motivasi dan komitmen organisasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Kemudian disiplin kerja berpengaruh positif dan tidak signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan.

Kesimpulan: Untuk meningkatkan kinerja karyawan agar lebih optimal, sebaiknya organisasi maupun perusahaan perlu merancang aturan disiplin kerja yang sifatnya tidak membebani karyawan untuk melakukan pekerjaannya. Disisi lain, organisasi maupun perusahaan agar intens memperhatikan aspek karakteritik individu, motivasi, dan komitmen organisasi untuk meningkatkan kinerja karyawan.
