Abstract

The research aims to reveal the practice of Islamic Psychotherapy through Sufistic methods, to treat mental disorders. This is motivated by the fact that currently more and more people are susceptible to this disorder, because they are unable to overcome complex life problems, resulting in psychological complaints such as stress and depression. Based on the above phenomenon, the author wants to examine ways to overcome mental disorders implemented at the Raudhatul Muttaqien Kalasan Islamic Boarding School, Sleman. The author wants to examine the techniques used, the stages of implementing psychotherapy and changes in clients after Islamic psychotherapy through Sufistic methods. The subject of this research is Hamdani Bakran Adz Dzakiey as a counselor and psychotherapist. Meanwhile, the object of research is the techniques and stages of implementing psychotherapy. Apart from that, Hamdani's clients are also used as significant persons to add information to complete the data that is appropriate to the problem the author is researching, as a cross-check regarding what Hamdani said with what experiences the clients felt or experienced. This research was carried out at Hamdani's residence which is located in the Raudhatul Muttaqien Islamic Boarding School environment, Babadan, Purwomartani, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The results of this research show that Hamdani's psychotherapy practice uses several methods, first with massage techniques. This technique is often used to treat clients who suffer from stress and  depression. The second technique is by taking auras and bad (negative) memories or traumas. The third technique is surgical surgery, this technique is carried out to remove bad energies that can hinder the healing of mental disorders. The fourth technique is energy distribution. This technique is done by channeling energy from reading verses of the Qur'an. This energy is called divine energy. The results of this research show that the practice of Islamic Psychotherapy through Sufistic methods can overcome mental disorders and bring enlightenment to both physical and spiritual conditions.
